Friday, October 13 was a night to remember, and remembrance at Laguna Hills High School. NG resident Nicole Cavaricci and Laguna Hills High School Football Booster club put together the second annual “Hawks Hail Our Heroes” game — dedicated to all First Responders, with special acknowledgement of our city’s adopted Darkhorse Marines. November and early December were full of joy and celebrations for Team Darkhorse and our adopted Marines. November 10 was the 244th Birthday of the Marine Corps, and that event is honored, revered, celebrated and marked each year across the Corps regardless of and where the Marines may be. If deployed and unable to hold a traditional Ball, the Marines will yet find a way to honor the day. On Thanksgiving, our city's adopted Marines, and their families had much to be thankful for, chiefly, their successful completion and return from a seven-month deployment at sea. During the 11th MEU (Military Expeditionary Unit), the Marines joined Naval and Air Force Units on Naval Assault Ships, which conduct amphibious exercises, and visit allies in the Southern and Eastern seas. In their ports of call, the Marines conduct military exercises with allied forces, to train, assist and maintain combat preparedness.
