Memorial Day our mission  is to honor and remember the fallen, in an effort to bring a measure of comfort to their loved ones and  the Marine Corps brothers they left behind.

As one might expect, doing so brought grief front and center into a holiday weekend which, for most of us, had previously been a carefree passage into summer.   We expected that.  What we did not expect was what also happened — a community has been created that includes the Marines we honor, the loved ones who miss them, the injured and recovered Marines who were their friends, and the current Marines of the Battalion who carry forward.

And through this community, we have enriched our own understanding, knowledge and appreciation of those who serve our country, those who love them, and the strength they carry within.    We are grateful to all of them, and also to those among our own community who have responded to our calls for support when we need it — through donations, sponsorships, gifts of goods and time.

To describe the entirety of the  experience that the three day Memorial Weekend has become with Team Darkhorse would take up too many words and pages — suffice to say our community is making an impact!   And, we assure all of you in our community, that the Marines of Darkhorse Battalion are making an impact too.  These are fine, strong, disciplined young people and we are lucky to have them!   Please let just a few of the photos from the weekend illustrate for you what I mean to convey!
